Meeting the Future, and Reaffirming My Faith in the Next Generation
I recently had the honour of being invited as a Judge for Socio Bee 12.0 at Samarpan’26, the annual event of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). What I expected to be a formal academic engagement turned out to be a deeply inspiring and humbling experience – one that stayed with me long after I left the campus.
Walking through the SRCC campus, I was reminded of my visit to Harvard years ago – not merely because of the architecture, but because of the vibe, the intellectual atmosphere, and the quiet confidence that great institutions carry. There is a certain energy in places where excellence is not displayed loudly, but lived naturally.
What impressed me even more was the courtesy, discipline, and hospitality shown by the students and faculty. In an age where we often hear that manners and values are fading in the younger generation, this experience proved otherwise. Sanskar is not outdated – it depends on how it is cultivated. Values cannot be forced through lectures; they must be demonstrated through example.
And that is exactly what I saw at SRCC.
From the Principal Simrit Kaur to the Vice Principal Aruna Jha , from faculty members Dr. Anuj Jatav to society coordinators Ashwani kumar, all the Alumini everyone carried a rare combination of humility, firmness, and confidence. There was no arrogance of being the top institution in the country – only a quiet assurance that comes from consistent excellence.
When teachers lead with character, students reflect the same.
This is why the right campus, the right mentors, and the right environment matter in shaping the mindset of young minds.
The highlight of the day, of course, was judging Socio Bee, a platform where young participants presented social-impact driven entrepreneurial ideas.
I have spent decades in corporate and advisory roles, where I have assessed the credibility of more than 25,000 companies and ventures, building frameworks to evaluate performance, risk, and potential. Even with that experience, I must admit – judging Socio Bee was not easy.
Every team came with innovative ideas, strong clarity, passionate delivery, and a genuine desire to create impact. The confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by these young participants was truly invigorating. It reassured me that the future is not in danger – it is in capable hands.
What struck me most was the clarity of thought and freedom of mindset. This is something I often speak about – moving from confusion to clarity, from limitation to possibility, from conditioning to conscious thinking. The participants reflected exactly that. They were not afraid to think differently, not hesitant to challenge problems, and not reluctant to take responsibility for change.
Selecting winners among such strong ideas was challenging. With my co-judge Ayush Agarwal, we tried to remain as fair, diligent, and objective as possible, evaluating each team on impact, feasibility, and execution. The winning teams certainly deserved the recognition, but I would like to say this clearly – every participant brought value, and on another day, the results could have been different.
After the event, I made it a point to interact personally with many of the teams, because the journey does not end with a competition. If my experience can help even a few of these young innovators move forward, I would always be happy to contribute.
I also want to express my sincere gratitude to the entire NSS SRCC team, and especially to Anuja C S, Sanya Gupta and Pragati Deep, whose warmth, coordination, and attention to detail made the entire experience seamless from the invitation to my departure from the campus.
Special thanks as well to my co-judge Ayush Agarwal for the thoughtful discussions and professional camaraderie.
I left SRCC with a sense of deep satisfaction – and also with renewed hope.
The next generation is not lost –
- It is evolving.
- It is thinking.
- It is building.
- And it is ready.
And as I always say –
Nahi aata to sikh lo. Kuch kaam kar lo.
The sky is never the limit – mindset is.
